How the hell did we get here? Why, in 2015, are we in a situation where pubs are forced to close and restaurants are forced to take alcohol off the menu because of the arbitrary rules of a religious organisation?

Well, ludicrous as it may be, it still did – admittedly – provide for some entertaining scenes around Temple Bar as tourists walked around dejectedly in search of a watering hole.

Iran

If you want to sound smart over brunch or drinks today, this is one you need to read up on.

In short, Iran has agreed to begin winding down its nuclear weapon production in return for the easing of sanctions – and while the extreme nationalists there are hopping mad about what they say is a massive compromise to national security (because, you know, they definitely needed nukes to defend themselves), there have been widespread celebrations on the streets of Iran.
