No one asked for it but we got it anyway: Google Street View for cats is now a thing.
These ‘cat’s-eye view’ street maps were designed by Hiroshima prefecture for tourists who might want to see their city from a different angle. Because who doesn’t want to see the world from a cat’s point of view?
One official from the Japanese city told The Wall Street Journal,
We were seeking to introduce a different way to look at our cities and offer a view of the streets that wasn’t available before.
Using 360-degree cameras similar to those used for Google’s street-view maps, the map includes a shopping arcade and surrounding areas in Onomichi, which is 70 kilometres east of Hiroshima city.
More locations are due to be added to the feline-centric map next month.
