Ever wanted to try kale in ice cream form? No? Oh right, well, it’s now possible anyway.
This kale ice cream comes from By Chloe, a 100% vegan, plant-based and kosher certified café in New York’s West Village.
Created by 27-year-old head chef Chloe Coscarelli, apparently the kale in her Kale Cookies and Cream ice cream can barely be tasted. It’s been described by PureWow as “sweet, indulgent, creamy and tastes almost exactly like real (kale-free) ice cream.”
Made with almond and coconut milk, the treat (which is free of dairy and gluten) is sweetened with raw agave nectar, Madagascar vanilla and homemade Valrhona chocolate wafers.
Of course, kale doesn’t enjoy the superfood reputation that it once did, with articles surfacing in recent months suggesting that its consumption can lead to dangerous levels of the toxic metal thallium in the blood, and even though this idea has since been refuted, the damage has been done.
So what do you think, could this peculiar combination work in Dublin? Let us know in the comment section.
