These Are The Most Romantic Christmassy Dates In Dublin

Shirleydonlon

Cuffing season is already in full swing, and if you’ve managed to bag yourself someone to cosy up to over the Christmas holidays, now all you have to do is decide where the two of you will spend a day soaking up the Christmas atmosphere in the city.

And although some of us may prefer to stay inside and watch The Holiday on repeat, for those willing to brave the cold weather, here are our top-picks of romantic, Christmassy dates in Dublin.

Ice Skating

Ice skating has always been a gorgeous Christmas tradition for a group of friends.

But why not turn it into a romantic date by bringing your partner along for a spin around the ice. Warning: if your coordination isn’t the best, even better. You’ll fall for each other again and again.

Check out the ice-skating rinks at RDS, Dundrum or Blanchardstown.

Enjoy a cosy Christmas drink

People-watching is the perfect bonding activity – and even better when it’s from the window of your favourite spot, nursing a warming drink.

Snuggle up in a cosy bar like Peruke & Periwig or 37 Dawson Street and take in the warm, festive atmosphere.

Hot chocolate

Dublin’s hot chocolate game is on point this Christmas. Some of the best hot chocolates can be found at Clement & Pekoe, Accents and Butlers.

Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo

Who doesn’t love lights at Christmas time? Running until Saturday, January 7th, this event is a must-see experience that showcases a variety of huge lanterns that were inspired by wildlife, including a 30-metre long Chinese dragon.

Apres Dublin

Remember Oktoberfest? Well, the Apres Dublin custom build ski-lodge is pretty much like the winter wonderland version of that. Head along to George’s Dock venue to grab a drink, try some street-food and soak up the Christmas spirit. This unique pop-up event will be one to remember.

Afternoon Tea for Two

If you’re feeling generous this Christmas, and have been saving up your paychecks, why not splurge on a romantic afternoon tea.

Treat your lover to afternoon tea at one of Dublin’s best spots, and enjoy a posh afternoon sipping fancy tea and eating cakes and sambos. The Westbury, Laduree and The Dylan Hotel are some of our favourite spots.

Funderland

And last, but certainly not least – Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the all-time classic winter wonderland experience. Held at the RDS, in Ballsbridge, this annual event offers fairground rides, ice-skating and Christmas markets. So why not make a day of it and head in to Funderland with your partner for a bit of Christmas fun.
