There Will Be An Epic ‘Drum Off’ During Halftime At Today’s Football Match

The Artane Band will celebrate its 129 year association with the GAA with a special 'Drum Off' during halftime of today's match.

Today is 'Artane Band Day,' marking the long history of the group. To celebrate, there will be extra performances and recitals in Croke Park by the band.

The highlight of the day will be their halftime show, at which they will present a Drumline Battle. Both past and present members will face off in this 'Drum Off,' as they represent both the Dublin and Mayo fans.

The Artane Band was founded in 1872, and in 1886 was invited to perform at the Whit Monday games of the GAA, at the North Circular Road grounds and began an association which has continued to this day.

Our relationship with the GAA is a special one. Our blue and scarlet uniform has become synonymous with Croke Park and the excitement of a big match day. We’re delighted to celebrate this relationship, and hope that fans will enjoy the many performances that we put on throughout the day.

We hope that the fans will really get behind their Drumline teams and give them their support. It’s something that the fans haven’t seen us do before.
