

A new kind of dessert hitting restaurant menus – delicious creamy eclairs or sweet fruity tarts, made with goat's cheese.
The savoury star of salads and starters is probably not the first thing you think of when looking for dessert, but goat's cheese has become the new centrepiece for desserts. These savoury desserts are the perfect union of sweet treats and a cheese platter: all the rich, creamy, post-dinner satisfaction for those without a sweet tooth. This trend has kicked off in London with Harrods last year with goat’s cheese éclairs with caramelised balsamic vinegar and walnut, but we hope it will be making its way on to Irish menus very soon.

Savoury desserts, despite being packed with fattening ingredients, have considerably less sugar than the usual cakes or ice-creams, so are perfect for those watching their sugar-intake.
Slightly on the pricey side of desserts, around €8 - €12, but we are yet to see them in Dublin restaurants.

At first thought a goat's cheese pastry sounds a bit, well... odd. But if you think about it - creamy whipped goat's cheese with sweet caramelised balsamic and nuts in soft flakey pastry actually sounds great.
