History was made today when The Sun newspaper dropped its topless models from Page 3. It has been a bone of contention with different social groups over the past few years, with the ‘No More Page 3’ campaign gathering 217,000+ signatures. Rupert Murdoch finally relented, and the photos will no longer appear in The Sun in Ireland nor in the UK. Twitter has been divided by different opinions so we’ve gathered some of the reactions at home and in England, in relation to this monumental development…

Er?! MT @DrKeithRedmond: Good work feminazis, you just made lots of fellow women unemployed because their work offended you. #NoMorePage3“”

Bravo #nomorepage3. You’ve taken feminists from telling women they can do whatever they want to now telling them what they can & can’t do.

The “scrapping” of #page3 is the digital revamp of a feature with huge publicity #TheSun #page3takedown http://t.co/X8cH1obRLR

So I hope the rumours I’ve woken up to of #NoMorePage3 in @TheSunNewspaper isn’t true!? .. Don’t like it don’t look #simple

Last week was all about media printing whatever they like, now it’s about not printing whatever they like #soconfused #page3takedown #page3

I personally see #NoMorePage3 as a step backwards for #feminism – the whole movement is about women being free to make their own choices.

Suspect some blokes livid about the extinction of #page3 only because they are unlikely to see a naked boobie ever again #page3takedown

How long will it take for us to be saying ‘Did they really print that every day?’ A bit like smoking indoors #page3takedown

Totally support #page3takedown it’s when your child asks u why it’s there & u can think of no justification that you realise how wrong it is

May I remind you it isn’t just feminists that wanted #page3 gone!! #page3takedown @NoMorePage3
— Tom Williamson (@sassygaygeek) January 20, 2015
Just seems a bit hypocritical for feminists to be telling women what they can and can’t do #page3 #page3takedown

No more page 3?
But how will I find out what India, 22, from Kent has to say about politics and fracking?#page3takedown

So, I’m presuming that Heat will now be cancelling it’s ‘torso of the week’ then. Equal rights everyone. Equal rights. #page3takedown
