A staple in most homes in Ireland - Father Ted is what we were all reared on.

And, as it happens, it's the same across the water. The deadly show was produced for British viewers by Hat Trick Productions for Channel 4, perfectly explaining why it has made the list of the top 10 British sitcoms ever.

Yes, ever.

The survey was conducted by the Irish Sun, with 100 professional comics asked to choose their favourite shows, one liners, characters and actors to celebrate the launch of We Have Been Watching - a series which comedians and comic actors watch and comment on clips from classic sitcoms and sketch shows.

And guess who came in an number five?! You guessed it - Dougal et al.

And even better still, a particular scene was mentioned.

The Wrong Department scene, where the priests are trapped in a lingerie store, comes in at number six of the best telly scenes ever.

Don't remember it fully?

Check it out right here for yourself:

Aaaaand, even better still.

The top five one liners have been voted too, and number three in the rankings is this cracker from the Craggy Island sitcom:

When Father Ted explains to Father Dougal the concept of perspective:

These [toy cows] are small. But those [real cows] out there are far away. [Points to toy cow]

Small… [Points to real cow] far away.

Brilliant - we'll give it that.

But where is My Lovely Horse?!
