Would-be Pilgrims Take Note – The Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage Is Cancelled Today

The Croagh Patrick pilgrimage has been cancelled today due to adverse weather conditions.

The annual 'Reek Sunday' pilgrimage, which was expected to attract 30,000 pilgrims from around the country, was cancelled after Met Éireann forecast heavy shower and isolated thunderstorms in the area.

The Catholic Archbishop of Tuam, Dr Michael Neary, was due to celebrate Mass at the Mayo pilgrimage and has expressed regret at its cancellation.

I'm not aware that it has ever been cancelled before and I have been climbing this mountain since I was a young lad many, many years ago.
