You Can Now Get Beer In Jam Form And We’re Pretty Intrigued

Do you love beer so much that you wish you could eat it too? Well wish no more, because now you get that your booze of choice in jam form.

Created by Potlicker Kitchen, there are a variety of beer-flavoured jams to choose from, such as Black India Pale Ale, Hefeweizen with Orange, Oatmeal Stout and the Heady Jelly made with Alchemist Brewery’s Heady Topper.

Each jar comes with a suggested food pairing, and we're intrigued about trying the Porter Beer with BBQ'd meats, butter cheeses, or peanut butter.

Potlicker Kitchen was founded in 2009 by Nancy and Walter Warner after they moved to Vermont, where foodie and forager Nancy began to find inspiration by exploring the local food and beer culture.

The Vermont company explains the origins of their alcoholic jam on their website:

One winter when fresh fruit was out of stock Nancy began turning all ordinary things (like coffee or wine) into jelly. After making wine jelly, the craft beer lover was determined to create a jelly that tasted like beer. The first beer jellies were cooked up late winter 2011 and quickly the most popular was beer jelly was made with local homebrew.

If you're hoping to get tipsy off jam though, you may be disappointed: the alcohol is boiled out through the cooking process, while the flavour remains.
