Turns Out We Love a Boxed Dinner
Ireland’s favourite recipe box service, HelloFresh, has officially hit a major milestone: 3.5 million meals delivered since launching in October 2022. That’s a lot of pre-portioned dinners, a lot of dodged supermarket queues, and one giant step towards healthier eating for Irish households.
With more than 1 in 10 homes having given it a whirl, HelloFresh is well on its way to becoming the default answer to “What’s for dinner?” It’s also been cosying up to some of the country’s top food producers. Think Glenilen Farm, Ballymaloe Foods, and Kerrygold. To ensure those neatly packed boxes come with a generous helping of homegrown Irish ingredients.
“Our commitment to supporting Irish suppliers has been at the heart of our success,” says Philip Doran, CEO of HelloFresh Ireland. “By working directly with iconic Irish suppliers, we’re not only ensuring exceptional quality for our customers but also supporting the local food economy.”
They’ve also thrown their weight behind food charities, donating over 28 tonnes of food (66,000 meals) through FoodCloud and dishing up more than 8,000 meals for Family Connect Resources.
So, what’s next? Customers can now pick from 219 recipes a month, spanning categories like Calorie Smart, Quick Cook, Veggie, Protein Rich, Classic, and Family.
On the sustainability front, HelloFresh is also making an effort to reduce food waste, source 100% Irish-raised beef, chicken, pork, and lamb, and keep things as eco-friendly as possible.
With a distribution centre near Dublin churning out these meal kits at scale, HelloFresh has also helped create 150 jobs in Ireland, proving that even our collective refusal to meal-plan can be good for the economy.
