Lovin Dublin Takes The Dart: Bray

Liz

Every week we’ll be looking at a village somewhere along the Dart line and we’ll be seeing what there is to do there for the day.

Bray Bré. So nice they named it twice.

This beautiful seaside village is perfect for a day trip, especially if it’s a nice sunny day.

To start, you should get brunch at Dockyard No. 8. This little place does a great eggs Benedict and also does great coffee.

After that you should visit the Sea Life aquarium and try not to get spooked looking at the sharks. You can grab a cup of amazing coffee in Finnbee’s after, which is in the same building. Nifty.

For exercise you can just walk along the beautiful Bray seafront, or you could go the whole hog and do the Bray to Greystones walk around the coast, which should take you 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on how fit you are or are not.

For dinner you’re spoiled for choice.

There’s Platform Pizza for award-winning pizza, cocktails and cool décor. You probably need to book ahead though, especially if it’s a weekend, as it’s deadly.

You can go to Campo De Fiori, an authentic Italian restaurant.

You have Box Burger for mouth-watering burgers and fabulous cocktails. We recommend the Raspberry Bré and the Drumstick.

Or if you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket, check out Barracuda, the seafood restaurant just upstairs from the aquarium.

Ideally, you should head there for sunset because this place has fantastic views out over the ocean.

After dinner you should grab a few tins or bottles and do BYOB bowling in Bray Bowl. If bowling’s not your thing you could play a game of pool, or do Dance Stage Megamix in the arcade area.

Because who doesn’t want to dance after slugging back tins and finding your hidden talent in bowling?

You can also go to The Porter House, ground zero for the Porter House chain, famed for their home-brewed craft beers.

Finally, make a stop into the Harbour Bar for a drink by the fire. They were once named the Best Bar In The World by Lonely Planet and when you go in you’ll see why.
