Oktoberfest Dublin Will Not Return This Year Due To Unprecedented Increase In Insurance Premium

Alan Fisher

It’s a sad day.

Oktoberfest Dublin will not be going ahead this year and the reason is very frustrating.

It has been a huge success every year it’s been on so far, but due to an unprecedented increase in their insurance policy, organisers have said they will be unable to hold the event.

They released a statement on their Facebook page explaining that ‘in Germany we are not used to the claim culture that has developed in Ireland and therefore we have decided to take a break this year’.

The statement continues, ‘The belief that putting in an insurance claim doesn’t hurt anyone except the insurance company is incorrect, consequently great fun events like ours find it hard to go ahead when suspect insurance claims from a small minority of people can ruin it for everybody.’

Have a look at the full statement here:

It’s extremely sad, but we hope to see them back next year.
