PICS: This Amazing New Gourmet Food Market Opens On The Quays Tomorrow Morning

Sarah

If you’ve strolled down Wellington Quay lately you may have noticed something very intriguing in the works, with shiny gold lettering and (if you tried to peep in through the window) an interior that rivals the most stylish of NYC lofts.

The latest treat to come to Dubliner’s lives is Dollard & Co, a food market with a difference, and the first of its kind in Ireland.

Set on the ground floor of the historic Dollard Printworks, the building itself is the oldest steel frame structure in Ireland and now that its been packed full of artisinal goodies it’s seriously a dream spot.

We popped in yesterday for a sneak peek and it is droolworthy…

There’s a huge grill in the center of the market, which is a super-casual, order-at- the-counter style spot to chill and have a snack, with an all day menu of yum brekkie dishes (try the vegetarian eggs with avocado and spinach!), vegan flatbreads, homemade gelato and coffees by TwoFifty Square.

The Grill seats 40 people around the open kitchen where you can check out the chefs preparing your food, with Miso Chicken Wings and a Crab, Lobster and Potato Omelette just some of the dishes we’re buzzing to try.

The food hall is filled with seasonal produce, artisan breads, deli treats, incredible meats, freshly caught seafood, a fantastic assortment of local and international cheeses, charcuterie, juicy olives, and take home meals.

Divided into 10 sections, you can browse around Deli, Homemade Ice Cream, Wine and Beer, Grocery, Fruit and Veg, Fishmonger, Cheese and Charcuterie, Homemade Meals, Pizza Pasta & Bakery, and a Butcher.

Bright and airy with floor to ceiling windows with a pretty view of Dublin’s red brick Georgian buildings, there’s a seriously slick vibe to the place.

And people returning from J1’s next month will be thrilled to see an entire section of their American faves…

Think Jiff’s Marshmallow Fluff, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Aunt Gemima’s Waffle kits, Pop Tarts, and those utterly addictive* Goldfish saltine crackers.

*Seriously, once you munch one of these little crisps you will never be able to stop.

Dollard & Co. is the kinda place where foodies will happily spend an hour or so just browsing around lusting over all the produce on display, and you could make a morning of it by popping in for a bite to eat before picking up some prime ingredients.

There’s some fab gifts in store too, ranging from cute tote bags to delicate mugs.

Sure, you realistically won’t be doing your full weekly shop here, but what a treat it is to create a really special meal with fruit and veg sourced both locally and from the historic Rungi’s Market in Paris, or picking up some home cured meats to nibble on after a shite day in work.

It’s the little things lads, and Dollard & Co. is a haven for the very best of them.

P.S. It opens at 8am tomorrow morning if you want to start off your day with a drool-inducing bang.
