One of the most popular places to go for a night out, Opium closed down in May for a complete refurbishment, and is opening again tomorrow night for a welcome back partaay.
We popped down to get a first look at the new spot, and it’s gotten a serious style upgrade. Playing on the Japanese theme, there’s anime graffiti all over the venue by local artists, bright neon Tokyo-esque lights, and artsy features at every bend.
Fancy trying somewhere new this weekend? You might wanna hit this up.
There’s five bars for a fully immersive experience…
Opium has been redesigned to give you a full day-to-night experience -you can grab brunch on the terrace, get a few cocktails in their swish lounge, and then dance the night away in club IRO upstairs.
You can eat Pan-Asian cuisine in their Geisha-inspired restaurant…
With a selection of Vietnamese and Japanese dishes, the restaurant does everything from vegan friendly Buddha Bowls to slurp-worthy noodles and curries.
The botanical garden is fully covered and is an ideal spot for brunch or after dark drinks
Seating about 50 people for weekend brunch (how pretty?), and 150 people for evening drinks, the space is bright and airy by day, transforming with a DJ and funky lights by night.
And then stroll on up to the lounge for evening cocktails
The atmospheric cocktail lounge looks out over the main club area, and we can only imagine how tempting it would be to carry on the night in IRO after a few Asian-inspired cocktails.
Opium are also doing all their own gins, and have a cool range of infused spirits.
Wanna make a night of it? Head to the Bladerunner-style IRO club…
With huge screens and an expansive dance floor, this is one of the biggest spaces in town. DJs will be playing a mixture of house, disco and more commercial tunes.
There’s some big names planned for gigs over the next few months – all will be revealed soon.
You enter IRO through a neon tunnel from Liberty Lane that’s straight outta a Manga novel
This looks even cooler in person; a dark tunnel with glossy tiles on either side, and neon strip lights leading the way into the underbelly of the nightclub.
With a private bar right behind the DJ deck and vivid anime LED screens
You can reserve the bar area right behind the stage for a VIP experience. Bottle service takes on a new twist with special Ketel One cocktails delivered in a surprise vintage-y suitcase (€100 for about 10-11 drinks.)
Birthday surprises that can be arranged also include dessert platter with sparklers and confetti.
You’ll discover something new at every corner…
From graffiti in the bathrooms to a quirky neon cat bar just beside the main upstairs smoking area, the new Opium is one of the most stylish clubs in the city right now.
IRO at Opium opens this weekend from 10pm with DJs from 10pm until late and they’ll be taking bookings at [email protected].
Start rounding up the gang for an Opium reunion…
