We know, we know, it’s only Tuesday, but haven’t we survived work long enough to deserve a treat?
We sure think so, and there’s one spot that’s well worth dropping by.
Mamma Mia Cafe near Grand Canal Dock is a little gem where homemade and traditional Italian dishes fill the menu, using only the very best of seasonal & local produce.
Red checkered tablecloths give that old-school Italiano vibe, while Italian staff bustle around, chatting over tables and making you feel like you’ve just been transported to a little trattoria outside of Naples.
The menu has indulgent options like fresh pastas and doughy pizzas…
From a basic but oh-so-good tomato and basil spaghetti (€9.50) to tagliatelle cooked with ham, mushrooms and fresh cream (€11.50), the pastas always hit the spot and are amazing value.
Every time I go for lunch I promise myself I’m gonna be good and just get a semi-healthy prosciutto salad, but the pastas lure me in every time. Plus they all come with a slice or two of crisp ciabatta to soak up the sauce with.
Pizzas are fired up to perfection, with toppings including porchetta and potatoes, or spicy salami. At about a tenner you’ll have enough left over for dinner too.
And specials change daily – so you’ll always find something new and tasty on the menu
Mamma Mia is a real neighbourhood gem located in the city centre, serving rustic Italian food at prices you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
Treat yourself with a satisfying lunch here this week – you might have to wait for a table (it’s tiny!), but it’s worth the wait.
