As anybody trying to get on the property ladder knows, Dublin is a bit of a nightmare at the moment with a serious shortage of supply when it comes to new houses.
One area that is exploding in popularity is Dublin 8 as it welcomes young professionals, families and new arrivals to the city.
Only a stone’s throw from the city centre, it means a shorter commute for many and with an abundance of new businesses moving into the area (offering cheaper rents), it’s fast becoming a great part of the city to live.
It still isn’t cheap, but for some Dublin 8 might mean their new home. Here are five of the best to choose from on the market right now…
1. 59 Bellevue, Islandbridge – €295,000
You’ll get a three bedroom apartment in a quiet development within walking distance of the city centre. Close to Phoenix Park and balcony overlooking grasslands and woods. You’ll have approximately 79 sq m/850 sq ft of room and it comes with one parking space.
2. End Of Terrace, South Circular Road – €300,000
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms in Rialto. The house is in good condition, but with some work can be turned into an incredible family home. It’s got a south-facing garden and it’s within minutes of the LUAS red line.
3. Brabazon House, 117 Cork Street – €165,000
You’ll not find many two bedroom apartments near the city centre at this price. It also comes with its own underground parking space and is within minutes of both St Stephen’s Green and the red LUAS.
4. 20 Thomas Davis Street, Inchicore – €300,000
Blink from the outside when walking past and you could easily miss this place. You’d never guess it, but inside there are four bedrooms within the 94 sq m/1,010 sq ft. It comes with one residential disc parking space as well.
5. 9 Pleasants Street – €925,000
Obviously at the very top end of the price range in Dublin 8, but you’re getting a seriously good location just minutes from St Stephen’s Green and off Camden Street. You’ll get three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a big garden (in terms of city centre living), and it’s been recently renovated.
