Would You Pay €1500 For This Monkstown Apartment With a Fold-Out Bed?!

Megan Cassidy

There is now a record number of people renting in Dublin, with a whopping one in four people living in the city now in rented accommodation.

Rent prices are continuing to soar, with Savills economist John McCartney predicting that the average cost of rent in the capital will surpass €2000 by 2019.

But what are we getting for it?

If this recent Daft.ie advertisement is anything to go by, not much.

We were sent a link to this Monkstown studio apartment by a reader who couldn’t believe her eyes when she stumbled upon it on the property site.

She wrote, ‘I know prices are absolutely mental but almost €1500 for a one room, fold out bed!!’

Our reader went on to comment, ‘When did the Dublin suburbs become central New York!?’

It sure is scary. Would you pay this price for this apartment?
