This Dublin Cinema Is Having An Entire Day Of Free Movies Next Month

Sarah

We love a good cinema outing; the warm salty popcorn, being able to gorge on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and checking out all the upcoming movie trailers before the actual flick.

Ugh, what a treat. But it can get pretty expensive when you start to add up tickets and treats.

So when we saw that the IFI are doing an entire day of free screenings, well, it’s a gift from all of the Gods.

To celebrate their 25th birthday, they’re hosting an open day on the 16th September with FREE films alllllllll day long, ranging from modern masterpieces to classic films we loved as a kid.

Here’s the full schedule:

13.00 The Mighty Ducks

13.15 The Big Sleep

13.30 Speedy

15.10 Star Trek: The Motion Picture

15.30 Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid

15.40 Intermission

17.30 Sorcerer

18.00 Miller’s Crossing

18.10 Delicatessen

20.00 Weirdos

20.20 Audience Choice (A public vote for one of the following: A Date For Mad Mary, American Honey, Embrace Of The Serpent, Hunt For The Wilderpeople, I Daniel Blake, Manchester By The Sea, Moonlight, Paterson, The Childhood Of A Leader, Toni Erdmann.)

Tickets for each film will be distributed in the IFI Foyer one hour before each screening start, and there will also be guided tours of their Digital Restoration Suite in the IFI Irish Film Archive, and of the only 70mm projection booth in Ireland.
