This New Survey Reveals The Valentine’s Gifts Men And Women DON’T Want

A new survey has just revealed what guys and gals don't want for Valentine's Day, and we've a feeling many of you may want to reconsider your plans.

Carried out by Durex Ireland as part of their Cut The Clichés campaign, the condom company surveyed 1,000 Irish adults to find out what were the worst, most clichéd presents they could receive on the big day.

According to the men, the three most unimaginative gifts to receive were teddy bears (29%), flowers (27%) and sexy underwear (19%). For women, the worst three were teddy bears (32%), sexy underwear (29%) and chocolates (12%).

So people, give up on the teddies (both types), no one wants 'em.

Irish sexologist Emily Power Smith commented on the findings,

When it comes to gifts or ways to spend Valentine’s Day the clichés exist because they were at one point the most popular way to express love. 'I love you' teddy bears were once novel and replaced flowers and chocolates as the currency of love. Now they are deemed passé and are often replaced with staying in and watching a movie. Sure, it’s free, no effort is required and watching a good movie will quash any chance of a meaningful conversation for those of us who might be exhausted, broke or not wanting to take any romantic risks. But is that really any better when real connection is required?

The research also revealed couples favourite ways to spend Valentine's, with 47% simply wanting to stay in and watch a movie, 19% favouring going out for a romantic dinner, while 18% would like a night away in a hotel.

And if you're planning to pop the question, maybe you should reconsider: 9 out of 10 surveyed said getting engaged or married on Valentine's Day is the ultimate cliché.
