8 Reasons Mount Druid Has To Be The Coolest Wedding Venue Ever

cynthia

If you’re after a shit cool, alternative and ridiculously Instagrammable wedding venue, prepare to fall madly in love with Co. Westmeath’s Mount Druid.

Christ this place – if you were to imagine the best location to throw the biggest, most important party of your life, we have a feeling it wouldn’t be too far off this absolute gem.

Can I get married again please?

Here are eight reasons it’s the bees knees:

1. The Tin Chapel

On-site in Mount Druid is the unreal Tin Chapel that looks like something from the Australian outback. Nestled amongst pine trees, the unconsecrated ‘gathering space’ features richly-coloured wooden pews and a stone floor – perfect for a full secular ceremony or a short blessing. Class.

2. The accessibility

But if you’re dead set on a religious ceremony, St. Michael’s Catholic Church is right across the road from the venue’s entrance, and the Church of Ireland’s All Saints is up the road in Mullingar, a mere 15-minute drive away. Handy Andy.

3. The grounds

Set on 100-acres of lush parkland, this place is a photographer’s dream. With backdrops like old stone walls, dramatic expanses of green, and majestic trees, you’ll be guaranteed gorgeous, creative wedding snaps.

4. The Boat House

After the ceremony it’s on to the venue’s amazing lakeside Boat House for the drinks reception. Guests can cosy up inside beside the wood-burning stove in winter, or quaff Prosecco outside by the lake in warmer weather – either way they’re going to bloody love it. Oh, and it’s got a Jamie Oliver wood-burning pizza oven, its own kitchen and a dining space for a chilled meal the day before or after the wedding. Mmf.

5. The Barn

The Barn in Mount Druid – seating 200 – has to be one of the coolest, most unique wedding reception venues we’ve seen yet. Decked out in antique and restored furniture, arts and crafts wallpaper and exposed brick, it’s the perfect canvas for a vintage, retro-chic aesthetic.

6. The walled gardens

Adjacent to The Barn are the stunning walled gardens, a brilliant option for your bridal party and family photos we reckon.

7. The grub

Whether you’re after a BBQ, a hog roast or a sit down dinner with the full works, the guys at Mount Druid have it sorted. And with the fruit and vegetables grown organically on the grounds, and the meat reared on Mount Druid’s own farm or sourced from local suppliers, you know the food is going to be top notch.

8. The glamping

Fun, fun, fun! Probably one of the coolest things about Mount Druid is the accommodation. On-site are luxury yurts, gorgeously decorated tin huts, shepherd’s huts, brightly coloured caravans and cosy little cottages. Sure where else would you get the likes of it? In. Love.
