It's just been revealed that the majority of Irish companies are planning to give their employees a pay rise next year.

After the employers' group Ibec took a poll of 400 of its members, it was shown that a whopping 71% of employers would hike the basic pay of their staff in 2017.

How much you ask? It's expected the median pay increase is to be 2%.

It was also revealed that 42% of employers plan to increase staff numbers next year, 50% aim to take on more temporary staff, and 15% said they'll likely use more agency workers.

The companies that are most likely to see the pay increase are in the IT sector.
