Welcome to the most Irish piece of content we’ve written all year.
Dublin Airport shared these pictures of Father Des, on Christmas morning, performing an annual blessing on aircrafts on their Facebook page, and people have been pretty pissed off about them.
Comment after comment of negativity featured under the pictures, most of which were highlighting the stereotypical nature of this all, as well as being angry that only the Catholic Church was being represented in such a set of pictures.
”This is ridiculous, we should be ashamed to share such pictures.”
”Ireland is a de facto theocracy – this is insane in this day and age – I hope the church itself pays all the costs of having their church there in such a privileged position.”
”Why don’t you invite priest from other Christian faiths as well.”
”Where’s Father Jack?”
”Is there *anything* to be said for another Mass?”
”Like a scene from Fools and Horses, blessing a van full of Reisling”
However, not all comments were negative. Many of them reflected on what a kind man Father Des was.
What do you think of this annual blessing? Do let us know in the comments.
