The Golden Globe Nominations Have Been Announced And We’re Beyond Proud Of The Irish Entries

Following on from a pretty successful 2016 Golden Globe Awards, Irish actors and film-makers continue to punch above their weight in the 2017 nominees list.

  • Sing Street, written and directed by Once’s John Carney, is up for best motion picture – musical or comedy. The film follows a young teenager who puts together a band to impress a girl. The movie stars an all-Irish cast and was filmed in Dublin.
  • Colin Farrell is nominated in the best actor – comedy or musical category for his role in The Lobster, a dystopian comedy about single people who must find a mate or turn into an animal. Farrell previously won an Golden Globe in 2009 for In Bruges.
  • We also have Ruth Negga nominated for best actress in a drama for the film Loving, about the 1967 US Supreme Court case that overturned the laws against interracial marriage. Negga previously starred in Breakfast on Pluto, Love/Hate, Misfits, and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.
