Mayfield Deli – Dreamy Brunch That Isn’t Just For The Weekend

The vast majority of people work Monday to Friday and from roughly nine to five. They tend to think those are the only working hours that exist but many don’t fit within those neat brackets.

Retail staff, the service industry, nurses, guards and professional musicians are just a few of the categories of people who spend as much time working at the weekend as they do during the week. Indeed a lot of their time is spent looking after us.

So today we are catering to the folk on the hunt for some quality brunch midweek – get yourselves to Mayfield Restaurant & Deli in Terenure.

You could be forgiven for thinking you’ve ended up an antique shop when you first walk in with everything from wonderful postcards to handbags and pretty much everything in between on sale. 

There are chairs on the ceiling, bills served in old granny’s purses and a general sense of falling down the rabbit hole in every direction you look. The mismatched decor creates a wonderfully buzzy room with a vibrant atmosphere.

This isn’t some sort of watered down affair, this is a full brunch menu with tons of options that just happens to be served during the week. My rancheros were superb with the unexpected bonus of melted cheese within the wraps turning them into quesadillas. 

As if the midweek brunch dish wasn’t enough to get me on a guilt trip mid-January, I washed it all down with two black coffees and a dirty big slice of brownie with the total coming to €25 including tip. 

The room is so welcoming, I sat there contentedly for a while after my meal just observing all the wonderful people around me. Then I came to the conclusion that henceforth I’m just going to have to eat brunch at the weekend AND midweek. Sure why not?!

So, if you are midweek brunching I don’t think you can do much better than hitting up Mayfield.
