“This Is The Cheapest (And Best) Shellac Manicure I’ve Found In Dublin”

Megan Cassidy

If you’re looking for the best place to get your nails done in Dublin, you’ll never go wrong by following ladies of a certain vintage to their go-to salon.

You know the women I’m talking about.

These are the older ladies that are always perfectly polished, with coiffed blowdries that would put your twenty-something rats-tails to shame.

These ladies care deeply about their beauty routines, and particularly their nails – and you’d do well to trust their advice when it comes to grooming.

I’ve recently moved away from my beloved Daniel Andrew salon in Rathmines, so when I was on the hunt for a new shellac haunt, my first port of call was to peep in salon windows looking for glamorous older women.

I stand by my strategy.

Blackrock has a good selection of nail places, but when I saw the prices (and more importantly the clientele) at Tiffany Nails, I was in.

Micheal greeted me, and without an appointment, guided me to a seat alongside a lady who could have been straight out of Real of Housewives of Beverly Hills.

I could tell from the conversation that she was a regular – the type who books their next appointment for the same day in two-weeks time when leaving.

I was offered a beverage – a simple touch often skipped in beauty salons, but which makes such a difference. (Despite the fact that it’s next to impossible to drink coffee while getting your nails done – we struggle on).

They are meticulous about their nail care at Tiffany, and did numerous ‘strength tests’ on my nails before deciding which method of shellac removal to employ.

Turns out my nails are “extremely weak” (thank you, Michael), so it was the gentler removal solution and no vibrating tools for me.

I know nothing about shellac application, but whatever they did next worked so well that my shellac lasted for a solid month without chipping.

I’m on my third shellac application from Tiffany right as I type, and I have yet to experience a chip, or a nail break at that.

At €23 a go (€2 cheaper than my beloved Daniel Andrew), and zero chips, Tiffany Nail basically meets all my criteria for a shellac salon.

Plus I get to shoot the breeze with the sexy soccer-grannies while I’m there, and imagine how the other half live.

Don’t be fooled by the UV lighting outside, this place won’t let you down.

Where’s your favourite shellac manicure found?

Tiffany Nails Blackrock, 9 -11 Rockhill, Blackrock, is open Monday to Sunday, with late hours on Thursday and Friday – call (01) 283 6786 to book.
