The Market Stall You Need To Check Out This Weekend!

emmakenneally

One of my favourite things to do at the weekend is visit a farmers market, have a delicious lunch of whatever spicy sensation tickles my fancy, follow it with a sweet treat and stock up on a few fancy groceries for the week that will jazz up my post work dinners. My favourite market in Dublin is the Dun Laoghaire market, and when the weather is good it’s unbeatable. Farmer’s Markets are so popular in the city and we never really talk about our favourite market eats so I decided it was high time to start. There is one particular stall there that I have been obsessed with ever since I moved to Dublin almost 5 years ago, and no other market food compares to it…

The Truffle Fairy is a chocolate stall at the Dun Laoghaire Farmer’s Market which, surprise surprise, sells chocolate of all shapes and sizes. I have sampled most of the things they sell but one thing I keep going back for is their chocolate brownie. Their chocolate brownie is without a doubt the nicest chocolate brownie I have ever had in my life! It’s made with 80% dark chocolate and rice flour, the rice flour makes it really dense and rich rather than light and fluffy. It’s also slathered with a layer of thick dark chocolate on top. Just thinking about it is making me want one right now this second. I was thinking about it today and decided it needed to be shared with Dubliners who might not have tried it yet. Even if you’re only mildly interested in chocolate you need to try this as soon as is humanly possible.

They also do the most melt-in-the-mouth chocolate fudges. I know you’re probably thinking ‘meh’, fudge wouldn’t usually set my heart aflutter either but these are more like soft, silky chocolates than gritty, buttery fudge. You really have to try them to understand the hype. My favourites are the dark chocolate mint fudge and the white chocolate, cranberry & walnut fudge. To be honest though they’re all delicious- orange chocolate, baileys, hazelnut praline, the choices are endless!

If you’re trying to figure out what to do this Sunday then take a trip to Dun Laoghaire Farmer’s Market and treat yourself to these. Go hungry and grab a hog box beforehand and you’ll be happier than you would be in any restaurant in Dublin! If you have any Farmer’s Market finds that you want to share then please do so below.
