12 Deadly Things That Will Be At Electric Picnic 2016

Electric Picnic is just around the corner, and we've started to get pretty excited. 

And it's not just about the music... trust us. 

Look below at all the wonderful things you can get stuck into, while perusing the beautiful woods of the Stradbally Estate. Now all you have to do is choose...

1. Lake swimming

For the first time ever, Picnickers will have the opportunity to swim in the lake at Electric Picnic this year. 

To reach the lake, follow the signposted riverside path leading from the Jimi Hendrix campsite. Lifeguards will be on duty all weekend to watch out for everyone’s safety - and only competent swimmers will be allowed enter the lake.

2. The Immerse Spa Experience

Designed to revitalise and heighten the senses, restore radiance and boost your vitality - The Immerse Spa Experience involves open-air seaweed and epsom salt baths with an unlimited supply of hot water on tap.

The seaweed will help your tired skin to feel refreshed, and the epsom salts are an effective treatment for sore and tired festival feet, tension headaches and cramps. The perfect Picnic pamper session. 

3. Zen Gardens

Boasting a plethora of creative workshops, healing journeys and pretty corners where you can sit back, relax and watch the surrounding electric energy as it passes you by - this place has it all. You can now book your workshops and treatments in advance here.

4. Pamper Street

Pamper Street, a brainchild of Lavish Design, is a play on all of the small and fascinating pamper shops that they have encountered from their travels all over the world. 

This amazing addition features everything from Middle Eastern wet-shave barber shops to the vibrant hair salons and nail bars of Mexico and spiritual cleansing in the Caribbean. 

Get into the festival spirit by getting your hair done, nails done, face painted... whatever take your fancy!

5. The Hazel Wood

Kicking off this year for the first time ever, Electric Picnic is introducing a new interactive theatre space in the woods called The Hazel Wood. 

The space will include mesmerising storytelling through interactive theatre, shadow puppetry, visual displays, Commedia Dell’Arte workshops, visual art and much more. They boast a whole host of big names - such as The Gaiety School of Acting, Fossets Family Circus and The Lords of Strut. 

The Hazel Wood will also feature immersive art pieces, immersive art installations and traditional paintings, bringing art to the forefront of this year's festival. 

6. The Cosby Tent

Named after the Cosby family who own Stradbally Estate, The Cosby Tent houses some of the best up-and-coming acts from Ireland and beyond, spanning a number of genres including indie, rock and electro. 

7. The Theatre Of Food

Yep, this is as good as it sounds. 

Theatre of Food puts the Picnic in Electric Picnic 2016, with incredible menus of stellar cooking from the best chefs in the whole of Ireland. A music stage is also set up right next door, meaning you don't have to miss out on the tunes while you dine.

8. Trenchtown

Trenchtown is all about sending the positive message of unity through music, and the art of welcoming festival goers to the ‘Jamaican Gem’. 

The Village bridges the distance between Ireland, Jamaica, Africa, and The West Indies, tingling the senses, hosting the best of reggae, ska, afrobeat, samba, dub, dancehall, hip hop and jungle across its four deadly music stages.

Good vibes all 'round.

9. Trailer Park

Trailer Park is a set up of 30 miniature stages or creations housed in caravans, horseboxes, mobile homes, shipping containers and repurposed vehicles.

What the Trailer Park community has in style, it lacks in sense - it can be described as an artistic refugee camp with a love of the ridiculous, and it is the place to spend time if you want laughter in your weekend.

10. Rainforest Sky Theatre

Acrobatics spectacular is a performance from the aerial dance collective Rainforest.

This collaborative troupe of circus performers, exotic costumiers and wild sculptural artists specialise in some of the most entrancing and daring site-specific interventions to have been seen in Ireland.

11. Oxjam

In association with Oxfam Ireland, Oxjam is a movement that is creating a song and dance to fight poverty.

The Oxjam tent is the best place to support homegrown talent and this is the initiative's third year partaking in the Picnic.
