Eating healthy can be very difficult, but it doesn't have to be impossible.
If you pair a healthy diet with an active lifestyle, you could look and feel better than you have in years.
However, it is very difficult to ignore those sugar cravings when you are at home and sitting only feet from a Chocolate Hobnob.
If you start your healthy eating at the supermarket, you'll find it much easier to stay on the wagon. There are some simple commandments you can follow for your weekly shop, so bookmark this and keep it in mind for your next shop.
This one seems pretty straight forward, but you'd be surprised how many people actually don't make a list before going on their shop, which means a lot of unnecessary items might end up in the trolley.
So before you head off, take a look in the fridge and cupboards, take a note of what you have and make a list of what you need.
Planning out your meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, is a great way of preparing for your food shop, and ensuring that you are eating healthy and getting all the nutrients and vitamins for the week ahead.
It may seem like a bit of a chore the first few times, but you'll eventually find it easier as you get into the swing of it. It will also greatly help with the aforementioned shopping list.

If you're absolutely starving when you're perusing the aisles, you'll be much more likely to pick up things you don't want or necessarily need.
"Don't be so obvious", I hear you scream, but a lot of us don't get that infamous five-a-day that we've been hearing about since our childhoods.
Fruit is a great healthy snack when you're feeling a bit peckish.
If you don't want to buy chocolate and crisps, just don't walk down the chocolate and crisp aisle.
I know it's easier said than done, but give it your best shot. Just pretend that aisle no longer exists.
If you want to treat yourself, buy yourself something small that you have been craving.
I suggest writing down your cravings during the week, and allowing yourself to purchase one or two of those items during your shop, if you are still craving them. But sometimes you can find that the craving has passed and you don't want it anymore.

Having a healthy quantity of fibre in your diet is so important for your health.
Brown breads, rices and pastas are a great way to up your fibre intake and to make sure your body keeps ticking over exactly the way it should.
