Looking for somewhere where you can escape reality this weekend?
How about you explore Ireland's oldest city, Waterford. With its rich culture, admirable amenities and jaw-dropping scenic routes; County Waterford has got a lot going on.
It's so much more than blaas and Mario Rosenstock. And we're here to tell you why...

Waterford has so much to offer in terms of eateries, with options to suit every taste. Check out Granary Café for some sweet treats, Bodega for melt-in-your-mouth seafood and Emiliano's for some of the best Italian food you could ever hope for.
Jack must have smooched the Blarney Stone at an early age as his 'gift of the gab' is effortless and admirable. He brings Waterford's nooks and crannies to life, tirelessly squeezing 1000+ years of history into one concise and wildly interesting hour.
It's a deadly way to see the city, and an easy way to acquire a vast amount of knowledge.
For a change from The Black Stuff, drop into Downes', which has been blending its own sumptuous Irish whiskey for over two centuries. Sample a tipple in one of a series of character-filled rooms, or buy a bottle to take away for €45.
And if drinking's not on the agenda, they also have a squash court out back, as well as a full-sized billiard table in the bar. Sorted.
Tramore Beach is a real beauty, located only about 20 mins by car from Waterford city. There's a nice promenade to meander upon, but the real winner here is the surf.
Perfect for both beginners and the surf-obsessed, this beach is quiet enough to ensure no embarrassment, but lively enough to ensure good times.
Also known as 'the other side of Tramore Beach', Saleen's is a sandy stretch reaching from Tramore Bay's eastern headland. It is separated from 'the Baldy-Man' (Tramore's largest sand-dune) by a stream.
Currents here are quite dangerous, so swimming isn't advised, but the walk has some truly cracking views.. It's an out-of-the-way spot that makes it a great location for a romantic summer's picnic, or to wind-down after a busy working week.
Clear the head, get some fresh air and soak in the greenery all at once with a quick trip to either Tramore or Waterford Castle golf clubs.
Golf ain't your game? They have incredible bars and restaurants, as well as stunning grounds to wander around. Winning.
Enjoyable, interesting and meticulously executed; The Bishop's Palace and Gardens are a wonder for anyone who gets the chance to visit. The guides are super witty so you'll get many a giggle as you follow them around the gardens.
