Dubliners don't know how lucky they are when it comes to cool, interesting villages to hang out in.
From historic sites to great pubs and restaurants and beautiful seaside spots, there's no shortage of places to wander around when you have a bit of spare time.
While this list could have been twice as long, here are some of the best spots to spend a day in the city...
1. Chapelizod
Located near the Strawberry Beds in West Dublin, this peaceful spot is surrounded by nature.
Sitting at the foot of Knockmaroon Hill, the village is intersected by the River Liffey and bordered by the Phoenix Park.
Chapelizod is dotted by a small number of cafés and pubs making it an ideal location for a day out.

2. Harold's Cross
This South Dublin spot is just a short journey from the city centre and is a great location for a day out.
An educational stroll around the historic Mount Jerome Cemetery can be followed up by coffee in the park directly across the road.
3. Phibsboro
It doesn't get much more authentically Dublin than Phibsboro. Since the introduction of the Luas cross city line, this Dublin 7 haven is now just a short tram ride away from the city.
With a number of landmarks in close proximity, Phibsboro is an ideal spot to hang out for the day, and the beer garden at the Brian Boru pub is the perfect place to soak up that leafy suburb chilled-out vibe.
4. Castleknock
Lying just outside the Phoenix Park gates, the location of Castleknock makes it the perfect spot to base yourself for an afternoon by one of Dublin's most attractive landmarks.
The peaceful village is easily accessible by bus or train and is served by a number of pubs and restaurants to get that perfect feed to end your day. A walk along the Royal Canal is also a must while in the area.
5. Dalkey
One of Dublin's most aesthetically pleasing areas, this seaside haven is just perfect on a sunny day.
The annual Dalkey Book Festival attracts hordes of visitors to the village while fans of watersports can enjoy a large number of sea-based activities.
6. Kilmainham
Home to one of Dublin's most historic sites.
Kilmainham Gaol has long been an attraction for tourists and locals alike to learn about Ireland's history while the Museum Of Modern Art boasts some of the most beautiful grounds in the city.
7. Glasnevin
Home to the historic Glasnevin Cemetery where several of the most important figures in Irish history are laid to rest.
Glasnevin is also home to The Gravediggers pub, which appears in many a guidebook for Dublin's best drinking establishments.
8. Sandymount
There's no better place to take a long walk on a summer's evening.
Sandymount Strand offers the perfect photo opportunities for those looking to capture the sunrise or sunset over Dublin and with the Poolbeg Towers standing proud across the bay, it really is one of Dublin's most iconic locations.
