If you’re into eating clean – and lean – then you’ll know turkey is a winner.
It’s packed with protein, low in fats and it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to onboard some serious protein after an equally serious workout.
And given nobody these days has the time to go to the shops four times a week, bulk-buying and freezing is the modern way. It’s a bit heavier on planning, but save your sweating for the gym; we’ve done all the hard work for you.
Here’s a plan for 10lb – or just under 5kg – of turkey, for you to use across the course of the month once you’ve ordered it in bulk and shoved it all into the freezer.
Week 1
Monday
Take 500g turkey out to defrost.
Tuesday
Whip up these enchiladas, using wholemeal tortillas and feta on top, and enjoy it for dinner – tomorrow is hump day, baby.
Wednesday
Devour those leftovers for lunch – they’d just as good cold as they are hot.
Saturday
Take 1kg turkey out to defrost before you hit the town.
Sunday
Batch cook day – you’ve got time, and let’s face it, you don’t want to face the outdoors with that raging hangover. This recipe will seriously wipe the smirk off anyone who says turkey is boring, and works just as well with fillets as it does with breast.
Week 2
Monday
Lunch and dinner are already done. No better cure for the Monday fear, eh?
Tuesday
Get the last out of that crockpot beauty.
Wednesday
You can eat another meat today – but be sure to take out 300g of turkey from the freezer before you hit the hay.
Thursday
Throw yer heart and soul into this beauty – turkey pot pie soup. Unreeeeeeal.
Week 3
Monday
Take 300g turkey out to defrost.
Tuesday
This recipe SAYS one slice of turkey, but what it really means is LOADS of turkey (and LOADS of eggs). This is brekkie sorted for today and tomorrow – slice the turkey nice and thin, grill it and put the leftovers in the fridge.
Saturday
Take 1kg turkey out to defrost. Yup. Next one’s a big ‘un…
Sunday
Batch cook day looms. But you’re going to love this one: a Tex-Mex turkey skillet. OH YES.
Week 4
Monday
MORE TEX-MEX SKILLET TURKEY!
Tuesday
Just over a kilo left in the freezer – so top up your order, and take about 500g out to defrost.
Wednesday
Sweet potato, chilli, turkey. What dreams are made of.
Saturday
Take the last 500g out to defrost.
Sunday
