Lizzo’s Dublin Show Tickets Labelled ‘A Scam’ After Going Back On Sale For €140

Tickets for Lizzo’s highly anticipated show at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre sold out in record time on Friday morning, leaving many fans disappointed.

A presale took place earlier in the week, with the remaining tickets appearing to sell out within seconds of going on sale at 10am on Friday.

But while the original tickets which were on sale from €39.50 to €45, Ticketmaster is facing criticism for selling ‘Platinum’ tickets through their site at €140 each – more than three times their original price.

Ticketmaster states on its website that platinum tickets ‘give fans safe and fair access to some of the most in-demand tickets in the house at market-driven prices’.

It adds, ‘These aren’t resale tickets. Platinum tickets are being sold for the very first time through Ticketmaster. The prices are adjusted according to supply and demand, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold.’

Re-sale tickets are also available on the site, which are meant to be sold by fans at the price they paid or less, though there were reports of these tickets also being resold at €140 each.

Lizzo, who is set to perform at the Dame Street venue on November 10, responded to fan complaints by promising to return with an arena show next year, adding, ‘I want everyone to see the show.’
