WATCH: Dublin Cyclist Tackles Bike Thief To The Ground

Alana Laverty

Bike theft is rife in Dublin.

Always has been, and most likely always will be.

360 Cycles in Clontarf are always reminding people just how important it is to lock your bike up properly and safely in Dublin.

And they’ve shared this video taken over the weekend to show people just how quickly bike theft can happen when a bike is left unattended, even if it’s just for under a minute.

They shared the following video with this caption:

How quick can a bike be robbed? Less than 17 seconds based on this video.

One of our senior mechanics was very lucky to get away with about €200 worth of damage rather than losing his carbon racing bike.

This happened in Clontarf over the weekend and we would like to urge all bike owners to lock their bikes at all times even if you are just leaving it for under a minute.

Scary stuff.

If the mechanic had returned seconds later his pricey carbon racing bike would have been gone for good.

Never leave your bike unlocked when unattended, folks. It could disappear in the literal blink of an eye on these streets.
