Dublin Zoo has been forced to cancel a second run of Wild Lights as ‘dangerous winds’ continue to batter the country.
They also had to cancel the hugely popular event last night as winds of up to 130km/h were forecast to hit the capital. The bad weather is expected to continue today with a status yellow wind warning still in place for several counties.
Dublin Zoo released a statement confirming tonight’s show would not be going ahead and that anyone affected would get a full refund.

Following a consultation from Met Eireann regarding dangerous winds forecasted tomorrow, Wild Lights has been cancelled for Saturday 8th December 2018>>> pic.twitter.com/WpHND6rAit
They said, ‘Following a consultation from Met Éireann regarding dangerous winds forecasted [on Saturday], Wild Lights has been cancelled for Saturday 8th December 2018.
‘The decision was made because the health and safety of our visitors, staff and animals is a priority at all times.
‘Wild Lights ticket-holders for this date will be sent an email with full details in regards to the cancellation via the email address which was registered when of booking.’
They added that Friday and Saturday ticket holders would be refunded automatically and that there’s no need to contact them directly.
There are still tickets available for selected dates up until January for anyone who would like to rebook for another evening.
