Yesterday, we told you about a salad and a lemonade in the Avoca Café that cost a mind-boggling €21.56.

And now we've got further evidence that, at the first sight of an economic recovery, this city is absolutely losing its shit all over again.

This example comes from The Marker Hotel at Grand Canal Dock. Granted, it's never been somewhere you'd go for the budget option... but €4 for an Earl Grey tea and €4 for a basic (ie, crap) cappuccino? That's just obscene.

Even if one of the best places in town charged this for a cup of super-fancy tea, or a special coffee blend that you can't get anywhere else, you'd wrinkle your nose at it and pay it somewhat begrudgingly.

The Marker, on the other hand, was absolutely none of these things. And when this is the price for the most basic, run-of-the-mill stuff out there, something is going horribly wrong.
