PICS: Two Grim ‘Studio Apartments’ For Rent In Dublin Right Now

Alana Laverty

Studio apartments can be very appealing.

Living alone, in your own space, with no roommates?

Heck yes, the dream.

However, when it comes to studio apartments in Dublin – the pickings are pretty slim.

It seems like anyone and everyone with a spare room in their gaff is advertising ‘studio apartments’ at the minute.

Lest we forgot last week’s monstrosity in Rathmines:

We hit up Daft.ie today to see what the craic is, what’s on offer at the mo and would love your opinions on the below atrocities…

To studio or not to studio… that is the question.

1. De Selby estate, Saggart, Dublin 24

Price: €800 per month

Description: “1 bedroom studio apartment located to the rear of landlords residence in a quiet cul de sac in De Selby Estate just off the Blessington road. Apartment is insulated to a high standard. A few minute walk to city west shopping centre luas stop and close to two bus routes. Apartment consists of bathroom with shower, small kitchen area with 2 hob cooker, fridge freezer and washing machine and living / bedroom area. First time rental an opportunity not to be missed. All utility bills covered. Hi speed wifi and free to air tv.”

Our thoughts: We’re calling it a day and judging this one by its cover lads – not good. Calling this an “apartment” just baffles us.

Also – the single photo they’ve provided with the listing isn’t all that appealing.

2. Seville Place, Dublin 1

Price: €1450 per month

Description: “Completely refurbished large studio apartment on the ground floor in a beautiful Georgian building in Dublin City Centre.” According to the listing it would suit a couple or two people sharing. Free parking is available. It has been rewired, has new double glazing, wooden floors, a new bathroom with electric shower and a new kitchen.

Our thoughts: Why in God’s name does this place cost €1450?!?!

And considering it’s location… we’re not really too sure why it’s so spenny.

So as not to end things on a bad note… we found one absolutely gorge, super dinky and dotey ‘studio apartment’ that’s more of a mini house.

Check it out:

Crescent Road, Rush, Co. Dublin

Price: €950 per month

Description: Available for a minimum of nine months, this converted stable sits on the grounds of a large garden on v private property.

The unit has a loft-bed, walk-in wet-room/bathroom and kitchen. It is furnished with sofa, table, chairs, desk and shelving unit and would be ideal for mature student, researcher or for someone seeking quiet retreat to write. There’s parking and plenty of storage.

Price is inclusive of wifi, utilities and reasonable-use electricity.

Our thoughts: It’s pretty expensive for a tiny gaff in Rush now to be honest. But it’s still suuuper cute.
