With all the ever-changing variables we have in our fast-paced lives, one constant remains the same – people love sandwiches.
The concept is so simple, yet so revolutionary.
In the little city of Dublin, we’re absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to sarnies but some are even better than others.
So here, in no particular order, is a selection of the best and brightest sambos in Dublin that will certainly change your life for the better.
1. The Pear & Bacon Sandwich, The Pepper Pot Café
A sandwich title that could easily be glanced over on a menu, but needs to be tasted to be believed. The Pepper Pot’s most popular creation is made up of delicately roasted pear, crispy bacon and Mount Callan cheddar cheese sandwich on thick fresh-baked bread.
Not a meat-eater? Their egg salad sandwich on thick, crusty white bread is heaven sent.

2. The Chorizo and Feta Bap, The Pig & Heifer @ Pearse Street
The Pig & Heifer is Dublin’s answer to an NYC deli with its fast-paced service, whopper portion sizes and incredible flavours. And even though it’s one of the very few places you can find proper pastrami around here, it’s the chorizo and feta bap that stands out for all the right reasons.

3. The Tinga Torta, Pablo Picanté
A torta is a gourmet Mexican sandwich. In Mexican cuisine, the torta is very popular and every region of Mexico has a local twist or favourite. Pablo?s specialty contains slow-cooked pulled pork tinga style, he therefore decided to call it the Tinga Torta.
All fillings, including bread, is prepared daily for that extra fresh crunch and taste.

4. The Mile High Club, The Pig & Heifer @ Pearse Street
The Pig & Heifer does it again with another NYC inspired sarnie. The Mile High Club is an absolute monster of a sandwich containing pastrami, bacon, chicken and ham on a triple layer of bread & salad.
Not for the faint hearted.

5. Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich, Juniors
Juniors is known for one thing and one thing only – doing chicken sandwiches right. They have a queue going out the door around the clock for this reason alone.
The chargrilled chicken offers juicy and tender chargrilled chicken with lemon & basil mayo, roasted tomatoes & rocket on ciabatta bread. Absolutely mouthwatering.

6. The Eggstra Club, Munchies @ Sir John Rogerson’s Quay
You’ve guessed it, a club sandwich with a fried egg smack bang in the middle to ensure you get whopper bang for your buck. Get it on tomato bread with extra Ballymaloe relish to really knock your socks off.
Also, MunchiesMunchies offers free sambos if it’s your birthday – you’re welcome.

7. The Honey Roast Ham, Poulet Bonne Femme
Available in Avoca Monkstown or Suffolk Street, Poulet Bonne Femme boasts outstanding sandwiches with all sorts of meats, but they especially nail it with the honey roast ham.
Simple, fresh, crisp bread, a selection of toppings of your choosing and juicy flavoursome meat. 10/10.

8. The Pulled Pork Sandwich, Staple Foods
Staple Foods is a haven for all things tasty and good for you. It’s not often that a place’s salads are as good as their sambos, but that’s exactly what they do best.
Their pulled pork is left to marinate overnight until it’s adequately tender and delicious enough to serve. Stuffed with their homemade beetroot slaw and covered with a crispy roll, you wouldn’t even notice that you’re doing your body a favour.

9. Home Smoked Turkey, 147 Deli
147 Deli have turned sandwich making into a fine art form with exciting flavours and the most incredible bread. Fresh, tasty and delicious. Well worth a visit.

10. All Of Them, The Green Bench
Considering the menu changes daily, we couldn’t exactly choose just one sandwich to rave about from The Green Bench. What we can do however, is rave about The Green Bench itself.
The queue extends to outside the shop every day of the week due to its fresh meat and exciting menu.

11. Open Meatball Sandwich, The Lovely Food Company
Out in everyone’s favourite AIB ad location, Terenure, The Lovely Food Company present to you the open meatball sandwich with mixed peppers and cheddar, also served with fries.
Hungry yet?

12. The Pulled Porchetta, The Fumbally
The Fumbally is one of the very best when it comes to good wholesome food with killer flavours, and even though their menu changes daily, one sandwich remains the same – The Pulled Porchetta.
Served on ciabatta with slow roasted pork, caper mayo
and sweet rhubarb compote, this porchetta will fill you for the day and make you wonder if you’ve ever been this happy before.

13. Meatball Marinara Sub, Il Posto
Il Posto is a spot that serves up some top notch Italian grub right in the heart of Stephen’s Green. Now this isn’t actually on the menu, but they do make it to order, and when they go to the trouble, they mean business.
It includes home made beef meatballs in pomodoro sauce with mozzarella cheese on toasted ciabatta, served with with home made chips or salad.
Stop drooling. No seriously, stop.
