13 Times Panti Bliss Proved Herself To Be A National Treasure

Panti Bliss is a legend through and through, and the wider world has taken notice.

With her movie Queen of Ireland coming out last year, it seemed that we'd definitely found ourselves a new Irish icon for the ages. But, sure who could blame us? She's the glammest activist in pink sequins.

So here are 13 times over the course of last year when Panti casually took over the world – and looked amazing in the process.

1. That time she strolled proudly through the streets of Ballinrobe, parent in each arm

Where else could you possibly begin than in the place where it all began?

A picture that proved to each and every one of us, home and abroad, how far we have come.

2. That time she interviewed Amy Schumer and Judd Apatow

While the pair were in Dublin for the Irish premiere of Trainwreck, Miss Panti got the call up to interview the two of them, and of course had a big gas time along the way.

Naturally Panti and Amy got on like a house on fire – and even managed to chat about the few common denominators in their lives...

3. That time she talked equality with Miriam, Gerry Adams and Minister Frances Fitzgerald

And looked like a big, glam butterfly in the process.

4. That time right after when she took a selfie

Because she's just as hungry for those likes as we are.

5. That time she sold out her High Heels in Low Places show EVERYWHERE

And also made time for several gigs around the country including the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Amnesty's Stop! You're Killing Me gig and numerous trips abroad to speak at various festivals and universities in her new role as an 'accidental activist'.

And won.

8. That time she had half of Ireland in Pantibar

Whereas Enda actually made his Pantibar debut in 2014, the Capel Street hotspot has seen the likes of Joan Burton, Miriam O'Callaghan, Gerry Adams, Shane Ross, Claire Byrne, Leo Varadkar and many, many more inside its walls during 2015.

9. That time she travelled to Sydney in the name of love

She travelled down under to attend the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras with an Irish/Australian float. Doing so marked the first time in TEN YEARS this was done.

Sure she was doing so much for the people of Ireland, that she couldn't forget the half of the country who had emigrated could she?

10. That time she showed us all how bloody down-to-Earth she really is

By hailing herself everything from an 'accidental activist', to a 'giant cartoon lady', and referring to Pantigate as a 'media shitshow', all you need to do is check out Panti's Twitter bio to realise she's quite possibly the soundest queen you'll ever meet.

Boasting enough five-star reviews to fill a sky, The Queen of Ireland finally opened in cinemas five months ago, with the wonderful Conor Horgan directing everything from Panti's Noble Call onwards.
