While many are off to spend a wet weekend in a crowded field in Laois, we’d much rather to spend it in the comfort of our own warm homes. Honest.

If you’re anything like us, you’re looking forward to crawling under a duvet with a cuppa tae and Netflix for the next few days.

Here’s what you should be enjoying.

1. The Get Down

This new Netflix Original is absolutely fantastic.

It’s the first of a 12-part series based in The Bronx, New York in 1977. It’s clear that funk, hip-hop and soul are alive and well, yet it’s a dark and dangerous time in a troubled, bankrupt city. 

The tunes absolutely hoppin’ – you’ll be boppin your head to the beat. 

2. The Lifeguard 

Starring the wonderful Kristen Bell as a confused 29-year-old who quits her job as a journalist in New York to return to her hometown – the last place she felt true happiness.

In a dodgy turn of events she starts a relationship with a troubled local teenager, while working as a lifeguard. 

It proves for slightly uncomfortable watching at times but is an interesting story of how difficult it can be to actually grow the f*ck up. 

3. Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

A documentary series that explores how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time.
