Five Refreshing Autumn Walks In Dublin That Are Perfect For This Weekend

That blustery wind might be due to Hurricane Ophelia, but jaysis isn’t it fresh outside?

Make the most of the weekend before the weather gets so miserable you won’t want to leave the house, and tackle one of these lovely walks.

1. The Great South Wall Walk

Make sure it’s not too windy before you head down here or you might just get blown away. This is one of the best walks in Dublin, and you’ll really feel like you’re escaping from the city.

2. The Hell Fire Club

Perfect considering it’s coming up to Halloween, this is known to be one of the spookiest spots in the city. Once you make it up to the top of the hill you’ll be rewarded with a seriously stunning view.

3. The Dodder Walk

Follow the Dodder river all the way along the banks with this easy-going walk. There’s plenty of wildlife to see along the way and you can stop off at Bushy Park for treats afterward too.

4. Carrickgollogan Forest Walk

There’s lots of easy trails here, but no trip to Carrickgollogan would be complete however without visiting the viewing rock. It is worth the short climb up a moderately sloped footpath to the exposed rock outcrop where you will discover one of the most spectacular views of south Dublin and north Wicklow.

5. Ticknock Walk

Ticknock boasts some of the best views of the city, and there’s a little coffee stall at the bottom of the trail where you can also rent bikes. Top tip? This is a popular spot for mountain bikers, so make sure you’re not strolling along the cycle path.
