Just down the road from its sister establishment, Dice Bar, the incredible WUFF and a hop across the river from the iconic Guinness Storehouse, Ellis Street has just welcomed a mysterious new watering hole.
"Mysterious?", you ask. Yes, mysterious. It hasn't even been named yet...
Kieran Finnerty, Dice Bar owner, previous owner of The Voodoo Lounge, Sin É and one of the original founders of The Dublin Brewery Company, bought this place on a Tuesday, renovated it during the week and welcomed a crowd of punters on Friday and Saturday of the past two weekends.
It's been a gradual process. A lot of people buy bars and they use an architect and they use the same plan, I create the whole thing in my head and work with what we have. I think that's important to keep the ambiance at a high.

The establishment is giving the quays a new lease of life, as Kieran himself noticed that there isn't as much pedestrian traffic as there used to be, with people choosing to walk the Luas line instead.
Inside the bar itself you'll find bright colours on the walls, made even more impressive by the enormous amount of light that the large windows allow, making it bright and airy during the day, and warm and cosy at night.
Out of these windows you see the flowing Liffey, and the best view of the Guinness Brewery in the city.
Kieran chose to install only nine taps to avoid beers going stagnant, aiming to provide only the best to his loyal customer base.
And what goes hand-in-hand with great beer? That's right: toasted sandwiches. From 12 noon everyday on Ellis Street's coolest new spot, you'll be able to get your mitts on toasted ham and cheese sandwiches for when your tummy starts to rumble. Ideal.
Kieran told Lovin Dublin this about his new place,
It's going to have the same vibe as the Dice Bar, except a more chilled out version. It's not going to look anything remotely like Dice Bar, but it's going to have the same bartenders, the same ethos, the same iPad with the same vibe and music playing.
We changed the bar tops, beer taps, hung pictures and painted the walls. We've had two soft openings, meaning after we did the first one, we figured out all the additional things we hadn't figured out that weren't working. It's been a gradual process, but definitely worth the wait.
Photographs don the walls, soft-painted wood dominates the architecture and old timey, comfy barstools (important) are scattered throughout.
The Luas stops of Museum and Smithfield are also just two-minutes walk away, meaning you don't have to worry about taxis at this spot.
The site will stick to normal bar hours, meaning it closes at 12:30am at weekends, but with Dice Bar open until 1am just a stone's throw away, you won't be stranded.
The as-yet-unnamed bar can be found at 4/5 Ellis Street, Ellis Quay.
And if they don't end up calling it Twice Bar, we'll be seriously disappointed.
