Dublin Has Has Been Named Among The 10 Gin Capitals Of The World

James Fenton

In recent years, Dublin has become known as a great city for gin. From Coppinger Row to Gin Palace, lovers of the spirit can find something they’ll love on every corner.

Our city’s gin prowess has now been acknowledged by travel company Flash Pack which has included us in its Gin Capitals Of The World study. Dublin comes in at number 10, joint with Linne in The Netherlands.

The survey was social media-centric as the website explains:

“We combined data from the three hashtags #Gin, #Ginlovers and #Ginoclock
to find more than 3,600 uses of the hashtags that were linked to a city location around the world. We were able to use the amount of times the hashtag was used in any one specific location to create the list of 20 gin capitals of the world.”

As well as Dublin, Cork managed to get in at number 20. The full top 10 reads as follows:

  1. London, UK
  2. Berlin, Germany
  3. New York, USA
  4. Barcelona, Spain
  5. Broadbeach, Australia
  6. Melbourne, Australia / Edinburgh, UK
  7. Singapore, Asia
  8. Sao Paulo, Brazil
  9. Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil / Healesville, Australia
  10. Dublin, Ireland / Linne, Netherlands
