Nooo – One Of Our Favourite Dublin Restaurants Has Just Announced It’s Closing With Immediate Effect

Niall Sabongi was among the first to join the Poké revolution a couple years back, and played a massive role in our love affair with the Hawaiian bowls.

Klaw Poké on Capel St was one of the first dedicated Poké restaurants in town, serving up delicious fresh seafood salads as well as some faves from its sister restaurants Klaw and The Seafood Cafe - fish tacos, lobster rolls, crab klaws and oysters.

It's also home to one of our favourite neon signs in the city.

Sadly, Niall Sabongi’s Klaw Poké on Capel Street has now closed, to allow Sabongi to focus on the creation of a new multi-purpose ‘Urban Monger’ venture on Dublin’s Northside and other projects in Dublin city centre and nationally.

The hugely popular Klaw (@DublinKlaw) and The Seafood Café (@KlawCafe) in Temple Bar will continue to trade as usual.

Niall said “The Urban Monger is a concept I’ve been eager to develop, but I simply didn’t have the time to give to it. Despite the success of Klaw Poké, I realised that sometimes you need to prune in order to grow and this would allow me to focus on building a new retail and restaurant destination for fish and shellfish lovers.”

The Urban Monger will not only be the base for Niall’s wholesale business, Sustainable Seafood Ireland, but will also welcome fish lovers, who can browse the produce and have it cooked to order. There will also be a fish cookery school and smoker, making The Urban Monger a must visit for seafood fans.
