When you’re in the mood to really, seriously treat yourself, there’s only one thing that will do the trick.
G’way with your spa treatments and shopping sprees, it’s a luxury afternoon tea that we crave when we want to spoil ourselves (which if funds would allow it would be every weekend, but alas.)
Dublin has seen the rise of afternoon tea in recent times, with variations ranging from gin cocktails in teapots to pretty snipes of champage hanging from silver trees, but we think the current offering in Brown Thomas could be the swishest one in town right now.
First of all, eh hello? It’s in Brown Thomas, the land of luxury.
Secondly, it’s a very special Veuve Clicquot Afternoon Tea, AKA one of the world’s premier and best respected champagne houses.
And just LOOK how pretty it is…
Based in The Restaurant by Johnnie Cooke, this scrumptious treat offers savoury delights, from traditional and delicate egg and watercress finger sandwiches and smoked salmon bouchée to a tempting and tantalising gazpacho andaluz and coronation chicken.
Delicious little sweet treats include lavender lemon teacakes, Belgian chocolate eclairs, summer strawberry shortcakes and a light vanilla mille feuille that will truly complement your champagne experience. YUM.
And oh my. The champagne.
You can indulge in the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, the symbol of the House, the Veuve Clicquot Rosé, the first blended Rosé champagne created by Madame Clicquot in 1818, the Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2008, the third vintage of the decade and the 65th since its first vintage in 1810 or the prestigious La Grande Dame Vintage.
We can’t imagine a nicer afternoon treat than browsing around BTs before sitting down to this ultimate champers spread, which costs from €47.50 – €75 per person and will be served from 3-6pm now until the end of September.
Treat. Yo. Self.
All bookings can be made by telephoning The Restaurant at 01-6171163 and must be made 24 hours in advance. Good things come to those who wait, ‘n’ all.
