These Are The Coolest Cookery Classes You Can Do In Dublin

Sarah

It’s fair to say that cooking is a pretty essential life skill; something that if you can’t do well will mean you probably depend on takeaways a lot more often than you should.

I’ve always been of the opinion that if you can read, you can cook – sure all you have to do is follow the recipe word for word – but sometimes a more hands on approach works better.

Oh, and it’s WAY more fun too.

This is where popping along to a cookery class comes in, and there’s no shortage of ultra fun ones to choose from in Dublin.

Whether you go on your own (you’ll then be able to pretend you just magically learned all these slick cooking hacks), or with friends (it’s even more fun than going out to dinner), a cooking class is something every one should try at least once.

Here’s 9 of the best classes in town that will turn you into Ramsay 4.0:

1. World Street Food – Dublin Cookery School

Street food has become the latest food trend across the globe, with a focus on fun exotic flavours.

From the flavours of Latin America, the Mediterranean and the Middle East to the pungent spices of the Far East, there’s something to appeal to every palate in this class that would be great to recreate for a chilled dinner with your mates.

2. Thai Cooking Class – SABA

In this hands on class at one of Dublin’s best Thai restaurants, you take a trip to the Asian Market where you’ll learn to pick Thai ingredients, before visiting an Irish food store to see what substitutes can be used if there’s no Asian food shop near you.

It includes a glass of wine/beer, and you’ll make five or six dishes to enjoy.

3. Bread Making – Baking Academy Ireland

Do you love the aroma of freshly baked bread, hot and steaming from the oven? Would you like to learn how to make and bake different types of real bread?

We reckon the answer is a firm yes, and in this class you’ll learn how to make your very own European and Savoury breads. Yum.

4. Veggie Palestinian Brunch – The Silk Road Cafe

Give the Irish fry, American pancakes or French toast a break and learn how to make your own Palestinian brunch from scratch including Falafel (chickpea fritters), garlic potatoes, hummus, marinated olives, baba ghanoush bread and mint tea. <3

This class will ensure you really up your weekend brunch game.

5. A Taste Of Sicily – Flavour of Italy

You just can’t beat tasty Italian traditional dishes, and Sicily is known for its fresh seafood and rich, bold flavours.

In this fun class you’ll get a “bruschetta crash course”, and learn how to whip up classic dishes such as arancini, pastas and local fish specialties.

6. BBQ Masterclass – Donnybrook Fair

Summertime is fast approaching, which means BBQ feasting season is almost here, woohoo!

Get to grips with all the BBQ classics in this class, including marinades and salads, and discover secrets of cooking over flames safely.

7. Tamales Workshop – Picado Mexican

Tamales are one of the oldest and most traditional dishes in Mexican cuisine.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to make them from scratch with two different fillings (one meat one vegetarian) and make a couple of salsas too so you’ll have plenty of hands-on practice. Divine.

8. Feckin Irish Tapas – Cooks Academy

These guys say that Irish tapas can hold their own against the best the Basque region has to offer.

You’ll learn how to make modern Irish recipes into bite-sized wonders in this class, and understand more about the artisan foodie scene in the country.

9. Indian Cookery Class – Rasam Restaurant

Rasam is one of Dublin’s most popular Indian restaurants, and if you’ve ever dined there you’ll no doubt have left mega envious of the chef’s skilled.

In this traditional class you’ll learn all about Indian spices, and make a two course dinner (with wine!) with the kitchen’s executive chef. Bonus: You’ll even get to take home a goodie bag of spices that you’ve used in the recipes.
