If you’re trying to stay off the booze, the options can be quite limited.
Let’s face it, who wants to spend the entire night drinking bottles of Coke or sipping on sparkling water?
While non alcoholic beers have been on the market for a while now, the sad reality is that many of them taste like dishwater and will leave you gazing in envy at your drinking partner’s tasty pint.
However, we’ve finally found one that actually tastes like real beer… and better still, it only has 26 calories.
Most bars in Dublin tend to offer Becks and Erdinger as non-alcoholic options so we were intrigued to come across an option from Brewdog when we popped into Grangegorman pub The Barbers this week.
Our hopes were high from the off, as Brewdog is one of the major players in the craft beer game with favourites like Punk IPA, 5AM Saint and Dead Pony Club under their belt.
They pride themselves on brewing “hardcore beer for punks” and it turns out that the negative media hysteria over the launch of their 18.2% Tokyo brew prompted them to create the 0.5% and incredibly named Nanny State.
It’s been around for a good few years but is only now becoming a bit more widely available and it’s genuinely a really tasty, hoppy ale that would fool you into thinking you were on the hard stuff.
A revelation for anyone trying to stay on the dry, trust us.
Not convinced? We’re not the only ones on the Nanny State bandwagon…
@nomboff thanks for the recommendation on Nanny State, best non-alcoholic beer I’ve had, tastes like the IPA ????????

@BrewDog thanks for taking low alcohol beer seriously with Nanny State. It was surprisingly palatable.

Nanny State by @brewdog is so good for anyone looking to cut down on drinking! Tasted like craft beer but without the guilt 🙂
