Being asked to be maid of honour is a lovely, special thing – but let’s not beat around the bush, as soon as the initial engagement celebrations are over it’s time to get the head down and start planning the hen.
So why not make things a bit easier for yourself with one of these all-in packages?
1. The Morgan
The Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar is offering two ‘Girly Breaks’ party packages: the ‘Vogue Beauty Party Package’ and ‘Get Away Gorgeous’ in conjunction with Benefit Cosmetics.
The Vogue one includes a photoshoot with hairstyle, make-up application, sets and props, accommodation and brekkie the next day, while the Benefit one includes a make-up masterclass in Benefit Dublin, a tenner voucher to spend, a glass of hens’ fave gargle Prosecco and accommodation with a full Irish.
From €100pps.
2. The Gibson Hotel
The Gibson Hotel on the Docklands has a brilliant choice for hens with their excellent if ominously named ‘Last Fling Before the Ring’ packages.
The ‘Girls Who Run the World’ package includes a cocktail class, dinner in the hotel’s Coda eatery and a Sing Factory recording session (from €95pp) while the ‘Pink Ladies’ one includes accommodation, a cocktail, a three-course dinner, transport to Everleigh and some other bonus extras (from €149pp).
3. Roganstown Country Club
Roganstown might be in Swords, but with its lush grounds you would swear blind you were in the middle of the country.
What we love about Roganstown is how easy it is to put together a bespoke package for your group – whether that’s private dining or finger food, spa treatments, make-up masterclasses, cocktail-making or a few rounds of the ‘ol golf.
But if you want the hard work done for you there’s the ‘Classy Chics’ package (yep, the names of these yokes leave a lot to be desired) which includes – deep breath – accommodation, four-course private dinner, make-up class with giftbag, use of the leisure facilities, luxury hummer to the nearby Wright Venue and entrance, Prosecco and a full Irish the next morning (from €110pps).
4. Castleknock Hotel and Country Club
With its 1930s style New York cocktail bar and an al fresco terrace overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside, Castleknock Hotel and Country Club is your man if you’re after that decadent Great Gatsby vibe.
The four-star hotel has heaps of packages depending on your price range, from the one-night ‘Girls Night’ package with manicure, massage, dinner and accommodation (from €129pps) to the two-night ‘Ultimate Hen Weekend’ with accommodation, dinner, spa treatment, sparkling wine reception, finger food platters and breakfast each morning (from €239pps).
5. Temple Bar Hotel
If you’re after a straight-up session, the Temple Bar Hotel has a great value hen package with dinner in the hotel’s on-site restaurant, a cocktail-making masterclass, a VIP upgrade in Alchemy nightclub which includes a queue-skip (cheek of ye!), a reserved area and a glass of fizz (from €120pps sharing for one night and €200pps for the two).
Now mind them heels on the cobbles y'hear? You don't want the bride hobbling up the aisle.

Dublin is glutted with literary magazines. They’re ten a penny; if today’s penny is actually €15 each. In 2017 Justine Carbery wrote in The Irish Independent “literary journals proved to be constant stars in a fluctuating market. Ireland, with its rich history of independent literary magazines, finds itself in rude health today with many new […]
(and Always) It’s never been more vital to support Queer-Owned Spaces in Dublin. Put your money where your morals are as often as you can. As someone who has worked in hospitality, I know that the people who run our bars, restaurants, and cafés shape the atmosphere more than the decor or the playlist ever […]
