I’ve Finally Found My Perfect Hairdresser In Dublin – And It’s Somewhere I Never Expected

I have to admit: I’m the laziest person in the world when it comes to my hair. I blast dry it with a hairdryer, use no styling product, and if – and I mean if – I’m feeling fancy, I’ll plait it before going to sleep so that it’s curly.

Basically, I’m a hairdresser’s worst nightmare. I was able to get away with my boho vibe until I made the rash decision to get balayage, not realising just how much upkeep it would take. 

Which brings me to my recent hair nightmare… The evening before my work Christmas party, I decided that my ends looked too warm and could do with an extra dose of purple shampoo. 

I woke up the morning of and realised my hair was SO ashy, it was blue. 

I’d never found that one “perfect” hairdresser – until now 

I’d booked myself in for a blow-dry to the new Easilocks Salon on Wellington Quay anyway, and was surprised to discover that first of all, you didn’t need to have hair extensions to go there, and second of all that they do everything from cuts to colour. 

As soon as I stepped inside, I knew I had found “the one”. The rescued me from absolute hair hell. 

Easilocks Salon is welcoming and chilled out  

I was placed into the expert hands of Stephen, my new hairdressing idol, who took one look at my hair and told me in no uncertain terms that there was no way he’d be letting me go to my Christmas party with blue locks. 

The relief. 

Even though I’d only booked in for a blow-dry, they managed to squeeze me in for a clarifying colour remover to get the purple shampoo out of my hair, a toner, and a quick hair mask to add some much needed nourishment into my hair. 

An offer of tea or coffee was quickly changed to a glass of Prosecco once the gals in the salon learned I was going to my work party, and everyone kept coming over to check on the progress of my hair and offer helpful comments to Stephen. 

I instantly relaxed into my chair and knew that no matter what it took, I’d be leaving the salon looking fab

I was going to be a good hour late to the Christmas celebrations, but I reckoned it would be well worth it. 

Stephen talked me through every step of the process and I happily slunk into my massage chair and sipped on my Prosecco safe in the knowledge that my hair would be divine. 

While other places I’ve had blowdries before used brushes to keep the curls in, my hair would never hold the style. In this spot, they use a special Easilocks 3-in-1 Hair Hero styler (I was so impressed with this I asked wtf it was), which is a straightener, curl wand and tong for loose waves or tighter curls. 

It gave my hair the most gorgeous Hollywood-style waves that I had always thought were impossible to achieve, until now. 

This is my happy but very scraggly hair before… (not including the purple shampoo tinge)

I KNOW. I’m obsessed too. 

Prices start from €40 for a toner and blow dry, which is pretty reasonable when compared with other city centre salons, and while the Wellington Quay salon is a teenchy bit bare inside, it’s only open two weeks so I imagine it’s still a work in progress and it is lovely and bright. 

I can’t believe it took just one trip to finally convince me why so many of my friends will only go to the same hairdresser each time.

I never want my hair to be handled by anyone else.
