Looking to move out of the ol’ family abode? Pack up your precious belongings in a handkerchief over your shoulder, buy that fancy wallpaper you’ve always wanted and settle down in a city centre pad like, oh we dunno, Carrie Bradshaw.
Soz to burst your lovely bubble but you’re probably going to have to keep on moving ’til you get out of Dublin.
A quick search on Daft.ie is grim reading indeed. We found the cheapest house there is to buy in Dublin city right now, and it’s still €199,950 and in Smithfield.
6 Stirrup Lane, Smithfield, is a “city centre pad oozing with potential” according to its listing
The one-bed accommodation consists of an entrance hall, living / dining room, kitchen, bedroom and shower room.
And we’re not looking for a mansion or anything but… This is TINY.

The ad says that this “little gem” (do people who write these things actually look at the photos?) that would “make an ideal starter home, investment or indeed City Centre pad.”
Now look, it does offer potential to extend by converting the attic space and features a south facing courtyard garden, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Still though, is it too much to ask to be able to afford to live in town?
